
The county has been experiencing rapid population growth at 3.05% due to high fertility rate which stands at 5.1% compared to National rate of 3.9% in 2014.Teen pregnancy is high (22%) in comparison to the National average of 18%. The contraceptive prevalence rate is low at 34.1% thus implying a low utilization of family planning services. Early childbearing among adolescents (15-19yrs) has been occasioned by early marriages, high unmet needs for contraception among adolescents of 59% and unmet need for FP among women from 25% to 23.3% in 2009 and 2014 respectively. There is increasing poor access to FP services despite commitments made by the County department of health to promoting and providing adequate FP health services.The Program aims to eliminate barriers faced by adolescent girls in accessing age appropriate SRHR information and services.by intergrating reproductive health and family planning into youth development programs to improve health of young women and men.

My Voice matter

Adolescent Girls Power Program (AGPP) and My Voice Matter Project (MVMP) are currently implemented to give adolescent girls power to transform and change the structures that denies them their rights and decision to make better choice and increasing access to SRHR information for adolescent girls and young women. MVMP targets adolescents girls aged 9-22years old both in and out of school. The project’s goal: Adolescent Girls have better control of their bodies and able to speak up for themselves and make the right decisions regarding their lives
